Choosing an appointment

A focused assessment of a single mole or skin lesion, examined with dermoscopy, discussed with you during the appointment and recorded so it can be compared in future.
A head-to-toe examination of the skin, with a written report where appropriate and guidance on examining your own skin between visits.
For a lesion that has been assessed and should be removed. Surgery under local anaesthetic by a specialist surgeon, with laboratory analysis of everything removed.
Removal of benign moles and skin lesions for reasons of appearance or comfort, analysed in the same laboratory as every other lesion we remove.
Our standards
No GP referral is required. Patients may book directly, and where it is clinically appropriate, assessment and treatment are carried out at the same visit.

No lesion is removed until it has been identified.
A specialist surgeon, every time
Every removal is carried out by a specialist surgeon, under local anaesthetic.
Everything is analysed
Every lesion removed is submitted to a laboratory, irrespective of whether there was any clinical concern.
Results within a week
Discussed with the patient by their consultant, and available through the Patient Portal.
Where we see patients
Each clinic offers the same standard of care. What differs is which treatments are carried out on site.
About the clinic
The Skin Cancer Institute is a specialist skin cancer screening and surgery service. We assess moles and skin lesions, remove them where that is the right course, and send everything we remove for laboratory analysis.
We are part of The Surgical Consortium, and registered with the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
Every lesion is analysed
Whatever we remove goes to a laboratory for histology, whether or not there was any clinical concern.

Patient experience
In patients' own words, about their care at The Skin Cancer Institute.
"I would just like to say that I found everyone at the Skin Clinic very helpful and approachable. I would have no problem recommending the clinic to anyone."
"We cannot thank our surgeon Mr Pahal enough for the exceptional care shown to my father during his skin cancer removal. From the very first consultation, we felt reassured and in safe hands. The procedure was carried out with great skill and professionalism, and my dad's experience has been wonderful. What truly set the experience apart was the kindness and patience shown at every step — nothing was ever too much trouble. We are so grateful for the outstanding care that has given our whole family such peace of mind."
